Khalida Habib

Khalida Habib is a distinguished financial sector professional with over 30 years of experience in financial regulation, corporate governance, development finance, and public policy. She served for 25 years at the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan- apex regulator of capital markets, non-bank financial and corporate sector, where she held senior leadership positions and contributed significantly to the development of Pakistan's regulatory framework for capital markets, non-bank financial institutions, Islamic finance, fintech, investor protection, and sustainable finance. She has extensively worked on implementation of international securities regulatory standards and development of Pakistan’s capital markets in harmony with the international best practices.
Throughout her career, she has led complex regulatory reforms, formulated public policy, and worked closely with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and international development partners, including the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, while negotiating collaborative arrangements, leading policy dialogue, and representing organizational interests diplomatically. Her expertise spans governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, financial inclusion, digital finance, and institutional development. Earlier she served at a Development Finance Institution (DFI), focusing on development finance and institutional strengthening.
An MBA by qualification, Ms. Habib is recognized for her strategic insight, sound judgment, and collaborative leadership. She now serves as an independent strategic advisor and consultant, helping governments, regulators, and financial institutions design effective regulatory frameworks and promote inclusive, resilient, and innovative financial systems. She brings to boardrooms a unique combination of regulatory expertise, governance experience, strategic vision, and an unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable value creation.
